Take a Walk And Learn Landscaping Secrets as Steven Vandora says
Before I started Steven Vandora and Associates, I spent a lot of time going for long walks and looking at natural landscapes. Although I received plenty of formal education and training in the field, I have always felt that my best ideas and my inspiration comes from nature. On long walks, I could see natural formations and natural beauty. When I got back to the office, I could use some of the elements I saw to create wonderful landscapes for clients of Steven Vandora and Associates.
Whether you want to create your own garden or hope to hire a landscaping service, it is important to have a general idea of what you are looking for as Steven Vandora says. One good way to do this is to go on long walks in your area. On your walks, you will find plenty of great ideas that can translate into a showcase yard:
1) Materials in your region. On your walks, you may notice that your area is rich with limestone, drift wood or other natural materials. Often, using these materials in your own landscape is highly desirable, because these materials will often look best and most natural in your particular climate. If you are far from sandy areas, adding sand into your garden can look natural. Working with natural materials helps your garden look its best and local materials are always plentiful and less expensive.
2) Plants in your region. On your walks, consider what plants you see growing abundantly in untended areas. Many of these plants – be they lupines or cedars – would look great in your own garden. Rather than fighting nature, try incorporating the flora that does flourish in your area. It will make your garden look far more natural and taking care of your garden will be much simpler since your plants will be naturally healthy.
3) Botanical gardens. If there are formal gardens or botanical gardens in your area, be sure to visit. Often, these are overlooked treasure troves of gardening ideas. According to Steven Vandora these gardens often showcase plants indigenous to an area, so if you see a great plant in a local garden be sure to ask about it. The other wonderful thing about public gardens is that they are wonderfully educational. Most plants and trees are clearly labeled so that if you find something that would look great in your garden, you can easily find out what you need to know. Public gardens also often hire very knowledgeable groundskeepers and gardeners. These professionals can often help you determine whether a particular plant requires special care or whether it grows fairly easily. Before I started Steven Vandora and Associates, I spent plenty of time in public gardens and botanical gardens. They were a wonderful classroom for me.
